Conflict Resolution Training

There are many different approaches to conflict resolution. Unfortunately, there is no one method that works in all situations.  There is more to conflict resolution than being able to understand why the parties are in conflict. First, a person must be able to diagnose the nature of the conflict.  Second, they must also be able to choose the appropriate method for managing the conflict. Third, the ability to effectively apply the best method is crucial.

Each of the three steps in conflict management takes a different skill set and knowledgebase. One of the best tools for diagnosing the nature of conflict and choosing the best method of management is the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI).

We offer group trainings, which will be tailored to meet the needs of the group.  We also offer personalized individual training sessions. These trainings offer participants the chance to understand their own approach to conflict.  The trainings also help individuals understand how to diagnose conflict and choose the best method for reaching a resolution. Conflict Mediation Services

Often the nature of conflict is such that the parties involved will not be able to successfully resolve it.  There are many factors, such as a history of conflict, high-stakes, deep emotions, upset parties and poor negotiation skills.  When such problems arise, it may be necessary to introduce a mediator into the situation. 

Otavala’s consultants understand how different, convoluting factors can make conflict hard to resolve. They also have the experience and tools necessary to help resolve conflict effectively.

Otavala offers conflict mediation services in which the goal is to diagnose all the factors affecting the conflict and use the proper methodologies for overcoming the conflict. Services offered include setting up grievance policies and boards.
